    first!

    great review

  • Joey says:

Nice… only wish there were more metallic paint apps to match the original figure.

  • kevin says:

im waiting for Fang-Man. i didn't care for the character, but seeing the figure more and more, i think he's gonna be a fave of mine.

the black spot on the cape of Netossa is showing up in other reviews or pics as well.

  • Iii says:

If this figure was released at retail it would be available in stores for many months and then end up in the clearance aisle.

I am hoping the POP fans will enjoy it…the few women who collect action figures and those other fans!

  • Feroz Nazir says:

    Good review.

I've seen mentions of her vintage figure having a sword, but I can't seem to find pictures of it.
Perhaps this was something she was supposed to have shown in promotion materials, but wasn't produced in the end?

  • PrfktTear says:

Netossa looks fantastic! I wish we had some other accessory for her — other than her cape. It looks like one of those plastic grips you use to open jars. I really like the head sculpt, I hope her face looks as good in person as it does in the video. I'm glad they went with closed mouth this time — so tired of the open mouth sculpts.

  • ADPriceless says:

I have zero interest in this sucky Carnival Barbie figure. Two years in a row Mattel have saddled subscribers with absolute stinkers in Jan – thank God for Ram Man…

  • Alex says:

Can't WAIT for Netossa, she's absolutely beautiful. You can keep your Ram-Mans and your Jitsus – I want more POP! πŸ™‚ Great review Dan – I always like how balanced and fair your reviews are.

  • Replikor says:

BEAUTIFUL figure! Another Great review Dan! Keep up the excellent work my MOTU brother from another mother! πŸ™‚

  • The Rook says:

The net that came with Leech did something very similar to me. The way the net was packaged, it was sort of pinched when I took it out of the packaging. Must have something to do with the softness of the plastic.

  • jeqi says:

I can't be the only one, haha.

  • Jay says:

    Total “filler” of a character/figure…meh…

  • He-Maniac says:

Good looking figure, but its POP. So who gives a Schmidt! Unless its a Horde figure I haven't any interest in POP. POP is a major reason the MOTU Classics has struggling now. (Star Sisters)

  • I have no idea who she is, but she looks great. I think I would have preferred the vintage headdress, though. It just looks cooler.

  • Frequincy says:

I wish the cape was like the vintage one and they included an updated tiara from the vintage figure. Aside from those 2 gripes, she does look really good. Nice addition to the rebellion.

PS: I can't wait for Madame Raz and Broom.

  • Miss M says:

I am one of those annoying women that proudly buys all the POP/MOTU products imaginable! I am so looking forward to Netossa. January needs to hurry and get here. As always Pixel Dan you do a fantastic review. I was looking forward to this review and you did not disappoint. I also love how we kinda get a "peek" at what Peekablue will look like since there seems to be so many similar parts from the bodice to the boots and skirt.

  • Mike Jenkins says:

I am VERY pleased that 2013 is starting with Netossa! She adds some diversity to the line in more ways than one. Unfortunately, she was cheated out of her headdress and sword – which I'm hoping she'll get in an upcoming Weapons Pak.

I don't think it's POP that's bringing down MOTUC. I'd say it was more to do with flooding the line with obscure characters like Vikor, Vykron, Fighting Foe Men and Demo Man. QC, CS, price hikes and international shipping issues have also played a strong roll in producing consumer fatigue. If the line was populated with more fan-demanded characters from the vintage MOTU, POP, NA and Filmation rosters, we wouldn't have seen the decline we have seen – which is why 2014 is taking on this format as collectors have been begging for years.

    • Feroz Nazir says:

This is quite accurate, but I disagree about the obscure characters. I think it's great that they've done something with the material they had lying around and in my opinion has resulted in some nice looking action figures.

Besides, it keeps the line fresh for me as I find inspiration in creating my own stories and ignoring the bios. πŸ˜‰

      • I agree. I hope to at least see Demo-Man's feet repainted for a Skeletor in the future (or at least used for someone else that's a close color), so that I can complete my Alcala Skelly (only 4 toes, but "close enough" for me).

I like variety in the line, but at the same time, I think we'd all like to get the "core" characters first. What makes up the "core" characters is up for debate, and depends on the person, but the I think it's safe to say that the examples in Mike's post probably weren't on anyone's list. Cool figures, but it's one of those "you can't please everybody" kind of situations.

  • Faker says:

    Jitsu review?

  • Fallen Eldor says:

The plastic cape/net isn't the only problem. It should go without saying, but Emiliano nailed it.
    http://santalux.blogspot.it/2012/07/motuc-netossa

And yes A sword would be nice. Something reusable would be fine. Something is better then nothing. Ethera isn't going to be freed by shields alone!

    • Pixel Dan says:

I assume you're referring to the toy mask/armor piece? I would say that is something wrong with this figure, but I definitely would have liked to see it included.

      Always love Emil's designs!

  • Fallen Eldor says:

It isn't' necessarily the lack of headpiece that bothers me so much as the contradictory logic behind the tooling allocation. The permanently attached armor negates parts reuse for Peekable's creating additional production cost. Then they skimp on parts count for this figure by depriving us something that came with the vintage figure! They charge us more and then tell us their poor stories. WTF!?!?!

Besides paying more, getting less, the uselessness of the cape/net I hate the placement of the "wings". Why are they are permanently attached to the hair? They should be attached to the collar like the original toy and cartoon.

This also marks the fifth Rebellion gal in a row to lack any form of offensive weaponry. Frosta came with a snowflake pin wheel and the Star Sisters came with a pink bird and pretty batons. This is not how a rebellion is won. What happened to the comb weapons. We got an Ax and a Whip. What about a comb Sickles, Sword, dagger, club or throwing weapon like a chakram?

That shortsightedness tells me they are not thinking, don't care or both.

  • Vixy says:

I wonder if anything from the past weapons packs could work with this figure.

  • Calcifer says:

The POP hate on here makes me sad. It was the superior show and I've loved the figures done for the show in this series.

Sadly, I won't be getting Netossa right now, and will likely have to pick it up on the secondary market. I only had enough money for one figure this month, and chose Rorscach.

Still, it's a really nice figure and I enjoyed the review. Thanks.
