Playmates Toys has delivered a dream toy line for fans of the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series! Say hello to the TMNT Classics Collection!

These 6″ scale, super poseable turtle figures are modeled after the famous appearances of these characters from their animated series that debuted in 1988!

Join me for an in-depth look at all four turtles from this brand new toy line! Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael are all put under the microscope! Find out if this new series is a total bummer, or a totally tubular!

Hmmm! I thought that the NECA TMNT were THE Ultimate TMNT, but I love the cartoon versions more…
Also was it a coincidence putting Leonardo next to He-Man or was that a subtle nod to Cam Clarke (VA of 80s Leo and 200X He-Man)?

  • philco_3 says:

Awesome, cant wait! Will these be available in stores or will they only be available online, like the MOTUC?

  • Lovable-Bill says:

I think every Donatello has bad eyes.

  • burningsatellites says:

    Turtle Power!!! I love them!

  • John says:

I've been checking my TRU weekly for these. Are they out yet nationwide?

  • Man-E-Fan1977 says:

I didn't expect a review so quickly. I'm almost sold on these. Even though I'm not a huge Turtle fan like you and Suine. I'm into Turttles like you're into Transformers.

  • Robintheboywonder says:

Hey Dan, did you get the ''SDCC" Night Shadow'' Leonardo? Because that paintjob looks great, and i would love to see a review.

  • @Replikor says:

are the core 4 turtles the only figures out in this TMNT Classics so far?

    • Pixel Dan says:

Yep, so far. And nothing else has been announced. So hopefully they plan to do more than just these four.

  • Wheeljack35 says:

I picked up Leonardo the other day and I was blown away from the size of the figures

  • FigureFan says:

Just ordered a set of these today… can't wait to get them!!!

  • PAT says:

Thanks for the review. Awesome work and made me want them…

OMG that Raphael is one of the best action figures I have ever seen. I really hope these sell well and we can get a Shredder. Can you imagine how cool he could be? Still, think I'll stick to the new small toon ones. I like big displays of many characters and a Playset! We need to have someone custom a more barbarian turtle that fights alongside He-Man. Come on Dan, you must know some great customizers you can give a hint 😉 and I don't remember ANY turtle characters in Eternia or Etheria.

Hey Pixel, I know that you live in Illinois, I'm from Chicago and I haven't seen these in any TRU stores by me. Are they out in TRU by you?

    • Pixel Dan says:

The Classics haven't hit Sprinfield yet, to my knowledge. Our TRU got all of the Nick turtles, but sold through them pretty quickly.

      I got mine from BBTS.

  • jOHN losacco says:

    Ah, ok cool, thanks.

  • Now that's more like it.

I'd kill for a classic Shredder!

  • Well, so long as I can get them at a store I'm in! That these seem to be more-or-less MOTUC scale was the final selling point. Wish Thundercats Classics had done the same (or survived for more than ten minutes).

  • anonymous says:

What's the price point on these? and are they available only at TRU and secondary markets?

  • Binks says:

I'm also interested to know what the retail price are on these figs!

    • Crespo says:

checked Playmates TOYS website… (don't forget the toys part when searching) and they have them @16.99

  • anonymous says:

Target.com does have them listed, though they are out of stock. That's great news for me, as the nearest TRU is an hour away, while the nearest Target is only about 25 minutes. Whew!!

    • anonymous says:

Well crap. While checking on them individually it says that they are not available in stores!! What the crap!?

      • anonymous says:

My eager excitment for these is very rapidly dwindling. Much like my love for MOTUC. What in the world is going on with the toy industry these days!?!

  • isic says:

I picked up all 4 at a local store called Tradesmart. They were $15.99 each and unfortunately all 3 Donatello's had derped eyes. Other than that, I think these are the best collector's figures out right now. My first love is MOTU, but in my eyes, these TMNTC put MOTUC to shame!

  • John says:

I just got the last three classics they had at my TRU, they were out of Raphael. They were $15.99 each and they look fantastic! Even though my Donatello has a little derpy eyes it's actually not horrible.

  • Man-E-Fan1977 says:

My Donny's eyes are fine, Mikey and Raph's are a little off, but not bad.

    • Pixel Dan says:

Great that you got a good Donny, but sucks abotu the others. I think that's the only real issue that Playmates needs to work on correcting. I'm not sure why they are having such a hard time painting those eyes straight. I love everything else about these figures!

  • @Perezcm81 says:

I picked up Don and Raph today at my local TRU outisde of Milwaukee. I gotta say I'm not to impressed. I don't like joints for toes or each fingers. My masterpiece Starscream lost both of his thumbs because of the weak joints. I'm holding off on opening them for now.
